Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Make People 100 Most Beautiful List

Zac Efron, Nick and Joe Jonas, Taylor Swift also make the list for 2009.

It probably comes as no surprise to Twilighters everywhere that the movie's stars, Robert Pattinsonand Kristen Stewart, made People's annual 100 Most Beautiful List.

"I don't get it," Pattinson said about his newly minted status as a heartthrob. "It's funny, you look the same for years, and no one ever mentions it. Then suddenly it's a big deal."

Pattinson and Stewart weren't the only teen idols who made the list, which also includes Nick and Joe Jonas, Channing Tatum and "17 Again" star Zac Efron, who revealed his secret to staying beautiful: "Backpacking, hiking, surfing, swimming, playing tennis — things that get you active and are also fun."

This year's cover girl is cancer survivor Christina Applegate, and pop star Christina Aguilera heads up the "Beauty After Baby" category. Aguilera described how her son, Max, changed her for the better. "I'm a total vampire — but Max makes me go out into the sun or to the pool in the middle of the day. He brings out a different side of me that I'm really starting to enjoy."

Starlets Frieda Pinto, Demi Lovato, Emma Roberts, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift also made the list. "It's important to be comfortable with who you are and go natural once in a while," Swift said about her style.

"Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen, who is also in the rock band the Pretty Reckless, found her way onto the list, but she doesn't get why. "I have a really strange body," she said. "I'm tall, but I'm all legs, like three-fourths of my body."

Other Beautiful People of 2009 include Barack and Michelle Obama, Keke Palmer, Hugh Jackman, Angelina Jolie, Dev Patel, Tina Fey, Rashida Jones and the ladies of "90210."

‘Twilight’ Stars Filming A Secret Movie? Nikki Reed Spills the Beans

By now, anybody with a pulse and a bookshelf knows that the “Twilight” movie was a big hit, and that sequels “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and most likely “Breaking Dawn” will be following it in the years to come. But even the biggest Twilighters might not be aware of one additional, secret “Twilight” flick that could be coming to a theater near you, courtesy of a few of the film’s stars.

“My brother goes to UCLA, and he’s making a documentary right now called ‘The Glorification of Celebrities’,” revealed Nikki Reed when we spoke with her a little while ago, explaining a small film that will feature herself, Kristen Stewart and other young stars commenting on the newfound power and pressure bestowed on them practically overnight. “’Twilight’ will play a role in it, but it is just about [exploring]: What is the definition of being a celebrity now?

Walk up to any supermarket checkout these days and you’ll be inundated with tabloid headlines screaming about what RPattz is up to, who Nikki is dating, or what outrageous quote KStew supposedly let slip. But as they’ve gone from relative unknowns to magazine-selling celebs, Reed’s brother Nathan has been chronicling the rise of the “Twilight” phenomenon with his camera.

“I think fans with be able to see this,” she said of the flick, which the Reeds expect to graduate beyond the little-seen world of student films. “I am trying to be as involved as I possibly can. I think ‘Twilight’ was a wonderful thing for him to use [in the film], because it escalated quite quickly. It went from being this little tiny book series that none of the actors really knew anything about to this explosion that happened somewhere around the summer [of 2008]; I started walking outside and people started yelling ‘Rosalie!’”

“My brother has been following that,” she explained. “And it’s great because I know Kristen [Stewart] and he gets to speak with her. And he has a reason to travel with me now.”

A fortunate side-effect from the experience, Reed explained, was that it has brought the two siblings closer together. “We realize now, as we get older, that he really didn’t understand me and I didn’t understand him,” she explained. “I moved out when I was fourteen, and it’s a long story - but he is doing wonderful things with his life.”

“He has been interviewing a lot of fans as well,” she said of “Glorification,” which will focus not only on “Twilight” stars, but also on what fame does to other overnight sensations in Hollywood. “There is a Nikki Reed’s Mafia group [that will be in the doc] - and if you guys are watching, thanks. Because they show up everywhere with signs.”

Kirsten Stewart is Hollywood's reluctant star, refusing to follow in the predictable footsteps of Paris, Britney, Lindsay and the industry's other leading pretty young things.

Screams from frantic, obsessed young female fans of last year's blockbuster vampire fantasy film Twilight follow Stewart when she steps out in public but instead of inciting the frenzy by attending red-carpet events and nightclub openings, the 18-year-old with the gorgeous green eyes chooses to stay at home and read abook.

Her Los Angeles home is not a mansion in the Hollywood Hills despite her pocketing $US2million ($2.7million) for Twilight and a reported $US4 million for the sequel, New Moon, set for release in November.

Home is comfortable in suburban LA, where she lives a regular life with her Australian scriptwriter mother, Jules, television producer father, John, and older brother, Cameron.

But this is not a shy, sheltered teen. Stewart is as wise and tough as a Hollywood veteran.

"Kristen has a great bullshit detector," the writer-director of her new comedy Adventureland, Greg Mottola, tells S.

When Stewart arrives for this interview in a Beverly Hills hotel, a stylist has not scoured the racks of nearby Rodeo Drive's designer boutiques for a jaw-dropping Dior creation. Stewart is dressed casually in black skinny jeans and a grey, loose-fitting T-shirt.

"This is me," the actress says, jokingly rubbing her hands down her thin 168-centimetre frame.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — It used to be easier to live a secret life growing up.
You could leave home, disappear from the radar, have different circles of friends, and spend that hidden time figuring out who you are. Now, every move, every mistake, every shift in personality is Twittered, Facebooked, MySpaced, texted and tracked via an elaborate network of cellphones and websites.

That's how Kristen Stewart sees it. She became entrenched in the electronic babble when she became a superstar last year playing lovelorn good-girl Bella opposite smoldering vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) in Twilight, the blockbuster adaptation of the best-selling novels.

The actress, 18, gets to explore what her life might have been like laying low a generation ago in Adventureland, opening Friday. The coming-of-age comedy about a girl and a guy who fall in love while toiling for the summer at a run-down amusement park is set in 1987 — three years before Stewart was born.

The teenage characters drink, smoke weed, lie to everyone (especially members of the opposite sex) and try their best to avoid abstinence (usually a reason for the lying).

MoviesOnline sat down with Kristen Stewart (“Twilight,” “Into the Wild”) to talk about her new movie, “Adventureland,” written and directed by Greg Mottola (“Superbad”). The film features a talented cast that also includes Jesse Eisenberg (“The Squid and the Whale”), Ryan Reynolds (“Definitely, Maybe,” “X-Men Origins”), and “Knocked Up” cast members Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, and Martin Starr.

It’s the summer of 1987, and recent college grad James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) can't wait to embark on his dream tour of Europe. But when his parents (Wendie Malick and Jack Gilpin) announce they can no longer afford to subsidize his trip, James takes a menial job at a local amusement park. Instead of German beer, world-famous museums and cute French girls, James’ summer will now be filled with belligerent dads, stuffed pandas, and screaming kids high on cotton candy. Lucky for him, what should have been his worst summer ever turns into an amazing adventure as he discovers love in the most unlikely place with his captivating co-worker, Em (Kristen Stewart).

Kristen Stewart was introduced to worldwide audiences with her outstanding performance alongside Jodie Foster in “Panic Room.” Her most recent film, “Twilight,” was one of the most successful films of 2008 grossing over $300 million worldwide. She recently began shooting the Twilight sequel, “New Moon,” after which she will headline the Joan Jett biopic, “The Runaways,” followed by “Eclipse,” the third installment of the Twilight saga.

Here’s what the super talented Kristen Stewart had to tell us about “Adventureland” and her upcoming projects:

MoviesOnline: Kristen, can you tell me what you're wearing?

Kristen Stewart: Oh, I don't know. I would. I'm not being secretive about it. I just don't know. I just saw it and went, 'I like that.'

Kristen Stewart's Advice on Awkward Love
27 Mar 2009

Parade Magazine

Twilight star Kristen Stewart trades in her forbidden vampire romance for awkward love at an amusement park.

Stewart joins Jesse Eisenberg as a couple of '80s teens awkwardly trying to find romance in Adventureland. And Kristen thinks struggling to get it right is what makes this film real.

Q: Are you as awkward as your character when it comes to love?

A: I don't think I'm ever going to not fumble around. I think that's just life. That's how you live life is you fumble around.

How well do you know the Twilight series? Take the quiz!

Q: Have you found it more difficult to have relationships since your rise to fame?

A: The hardest thing in life is to maintain personal relationships and to feel like they're real and genuine. You're always going to have expectations that you're trying to meet and you just have to roll with it.

Q: Did you find yourself bringing any of your own relationship experiences into the role?

A: No, not at all, the characters that I play are so different. I always make sure that they're a completely different person from me. I didn't think that it was necessary to bring my own life into it. I could just imagine what it would be like for her.

Q: You seem so sure of who you are, was it difficult to play someone who was as you say "self-loathing?"

A: I have friends that I can sort of see in her. Like my favorite aspects of her I feel like I know a lot of those kind of girls that are wracked with feelings of inadequacy, but they're actually the greatest people that I know. And so if they could just realize that, they could have everything that they wanted.

10 Qs With 'Adventureland' Star Kristen Stewart

By Emily Christianson

Kristen Stewart on her ‘80s amusement park comedy Adventureland, Joan Jett biopic Runaways and her pop-culture vamp phenomenon New Moon.

So, in Adventureland, you're damaged, you say?
“I’ve never met a terribly introverted and damaged girl at a theme park in the '80's [laughs]. I related to her because I like characters that are written that are whole … it's easy to tell what would be right and wrong and how they would feel about something because they're very defined … I could imagine what it would be like to not like yourself very much and not have a mom and not have a dad to reassure you and sort of be kicking it alone and feel like you're sort of smarter than everyone but no one gets it.”

Wait a sec, "masochistic?"
“I don't think she's too excited about [dating a much older guy]. I think it's masochistic … It's an outlet for her, and it's just something that she can go do, and it's mindless, and it's like she has this void, and it's not necessarily being filled by that -- but it's a distraction. She's not proud of it … She's ashamed of it.”

Would you rather: work the games or work the rides?
“It's kind of a toss-up because more human interaction goes along with games, but then the physical aspects of the rides isn't appealing for me. I would rather be the janitor, no joke. I would literally rather clean up everyone's mess and not have to talk to them or work their rides.”

Kristen, you're a ‘90s child playing an ‘80s chick.
“[I like] Madonna and like neon colors. The style was very distinct, and it's coming back, too. Everyone's sort of got like an '80s feel … we were given like a big booklet of information that wasn't very important. There was like a yuppie boom, all of a sudden everybody became very materialistic and wanted to look rich.”

And you're doing it again in Runaways!
“I just saw [Joan Jett]. She's really good. She, like, penetrates you with her gaze, literally. She's a badass. She's the ultimate cool -- like really deep, too. She's very thoughtful. She could sit in a room full of chattering people and music, and she's just sitting there. Then something crazy'll happen, and you're like, ‘Joan, did you see that?’ And she'll be like, ‘No.’ She's very thoughtful, and she loves what she does. She cares about so many people. She's an activist. She's really amazing.”

Can we hear you sing? Please?
“I want to very badly, but I also want it to sound right, and I don't know if it'll be a combination where they lay our voices on top of each other or if it'll be just her or just me. We'll see. We'll see how able the other actors are to play the music themselves. It would be awesome. We're definitely on band practice.”

OK, fine, what about you + guitar-smashing?
“The relationship that's really interesting is Cheri and Joan, the two front men of the band. They get tattoos together in Japan and obviously they still have those tattoos. I'm looking forward to that just because it's such a fun part of the movie. I like the big conflict. Cheri can't really handle the success, nor does she want it necessarily in that respect. Joan is a very steady, self-assured, and she knows this kick started her whole career. So to watch it all fall apart and her still stand, I'm excited about that. It's a really explosive scene. Amps are kicked through, and guitars are smashed.”

Um ... we have to talk about New Moon, you know that.
“[We are] just picking up where we left off. The story, there's like a six-month period where the first one ended, and the second one picks up, but nothing has changed. They're at a good, solid point in their relationship. I'm interested to see him leave because that's what the first one is entirely based on, that abandoned devotion ultimate love story. Now she's going to be stripped of that, and Bella is actually an interesting character on her own.”

Steroids? Jacob? Wha?
“Taylor Lautner is Jacob. It was under deliberation for a while, so we're glad that he's doing it … He's jacked. It's crazy … He's not on steroids … I've seen the steady progression, and I've seen him a lot since then. If I had seen Taylor who did Twilight to the Taylor right now who's about to start New Moon, he's an entirely different person physically. I mean, it took him so much time. He's so devoted. He's amped, really excited.”

Who's gonna direct Eclipse?!
“As long as they get someone who's invested, as long as they get someone who cares. I don't know, it's so above me, but I think that both of them are in their own way, I'm sure that they'd be great. Drew [Barrymore]'s been doing this her whole life, and she's pretty cool. I could probably get behind [her or Juan Antonio Bayona] for various reasons but… nobody's been hired so I don't know yet.”

There's no expensive D&G, no blinged Juicy Couture, no double-C Chanel or slinky Versace in the seductively subdued world of "Twilight."

"Twilight" costume designer Wendy Chuck explains to EW why she didn't put Bella (Kristen Stewart) in a single big designer creation in "Twilight."

And she probably won't do any recognizable designer duds in "New Moon" either.

Seems she made a conscious choice to shun A-list designers and stick to real-life affordable separates.

''My look is always character-based and not fashion-based," she tells EW. It's really easy to get over-stylish, and I felt that Bella in particular had to be anchored in the real world.''

That's why you see Bella in the parking scene car wreck scene in a brown Rubbish hoodie from Nordstrom and woolen mittens from Ruth Cross. And why Bella looks sweet in a cream thermal by Curious Gypsy with thumb holes in the sleeves in the hospital scene.

And why she sports a faded blue cargo jacket from Jack BB Dakota (purchased at the last minute from a Nordstrom Rack store) when she and Edward do tree climbing. And why she dons a $20 Max and Cleo silk frock from the discount shop Ross to briefly hit the high school prom.

According to EW, that newly dubbed "Twilight" cargo jacket will be reissued in July for $84. We want one now!

Kristen Stewart: The Truth about Twilight, Rob Pattinson and the Fans

Good news, fanggirls: Kristen Stewart says there will be a fourth Twilight movie. She can't imagine why there wouldn't be a big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn, the last novel in her young vampire series.

As we all know by now, Twilight was one of last year’s biggest hits, New Moon starts shooting any minute now, and the studio most recently announced they've officially started work on developing Eclipse.

"We all really hope there is going to be a number four," Stewart, 18, told me yesterday afternoon when we sat down to chat in a suite at L.A.'s Sofitel hotel. "I'm pretty confident that the fans aren’t going to all of a sudden lose interest. The only case that a fourth one wouldn’t be made is if all of a sudden people stopped caring, and I really don't think that's going to happen."

And that's not about to happen for Stewart, either. In fact, she'd like to set the record straight about critics who have come to attack her as some sort of Hollywood ingrate who doesn't think very highly of Twilight or its more dedicated—some would say obsessed—fan base.

Despite the near Twi-Twit riot Kristen Stewart caused via her interview in Nylon mag, in which she seemingly bashed the crazed fans, K told us she’s actually thrilled to get back into New Moon. And we sorta believe her. “We’re going to pick up right where we left off,” she said with as much enthusiasm as Kristen can possibly emit (she’s not exactly the bubbly chick). That said, she had deets to offer:

“I’m so excited because the story is scaled down a little bit. [Edward] leaves her, and that’s sort of what the entire first movie is based on,” K.S. semi-enthused. So if you take that away, there is still a story, which I think is impressive.” Holy smokes, Twi-Twits! Is that a genuine compliment about the Twilight franchise Stewart previously termed “ridiculous"? Maybe. And which costar is Stewart most decidedly unambivalent about seeing again?

A.T.: Who are you most excited to see when you get up to Vancouver?

K.T.: “Taylor Lautner!” screamed the woman who supposedly romanced—onscreen and off—mega-vamp hunk Rob Pattinson. “[Lautner]’s still playing Jacob and that’s, like, the coolest thing.” Stewart practically drooled: “He’s buff, too. 'Cause that’s so important,” she added sarcastically, as if that snap-save was going to throw us off one damn bit. (She totally didn’t get the uproar ‘bout cutie Lautner not being able to play Jacob because he wasn’t strong enough, and we didn’t either.)

Now that she’s a major star from Twilight, distributors are eager to pick up all the little indie movies she made before. The Cake Eaters is one beneficiary of her blockbuster success. She plays Georgia, a 15-year-old suffering from a terminal muscular disorder, trying to lose her virginity before she succumbs to the disease.

Kristen Stewart on The Cake Eaters
“I was so intimidated by the character that I didn't start any physicality before literally the first day of shooting,” Stewart said. “I just couldn't stop thinking about it. [Director] Mary Stuart [Masterson] set me up with a lot of material and information, Sam and Alex, two girls that have the disease and were too generous. I mean, really an amazing family they have. They recorded a lot of video of themselves speaking and Mary Stuart interviewing them.”

Twilight's Nikki Reed: 'So Proud' of Taylor Lautner

By Lisa Ingrassia

As the Twilight cast heads to Vancouver this week to begin rehearsals for the film's sequel, New Moon, Nikki Reed says she's relieved to have pal Taylor Lautner in the cast.

"I'm so proud of him," she tells PEOPLE. "He didn't have the part."

Lautner, who portrayed Jacob in Twilight, had to audition to keep his role in New Moon because the character undergoes a drastic physical transformation and becomes a hulking werewolf.

"Everybody knew he was going to have to fight for this," says Reed, 20, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale. "He was at the gym twice or three times a day. He was on a nutrition and workout regime for the last year not knowing if he would be in this film."

"We were all on edge," Reed says about waiting to hear if Lautner had been cast again as Jacob. "It got closer and closer, and it was heartbreaking. Kristen [Stewart] and I were in Africa when we got the call saying he got the part. She's so stoked."

Preparing to begin filming with director Chris Weitz at the end of March shortly following the March 21 release of the Twilight DVD, Reed says she's glad it wasn't her that had to audition again.

"I don't know if I would have had the confidence to do that, and be told 'no' if it didn't work out. He just went in there and said, 'I'm going to do the best that I can.' And it paid off. I'm so happy for him."

Review: 'The Cake Eaters'
12 Mar 2009

Los Angeles Times
By Gary Goldstein

The overly earnest film is loaded with empty calories.

"The Cake Eaters" is a bland ensemble drama with an unremarkable script (by Jayce Bartok, who also costars) that somehow inspired actress Mary Stuart Masterson to make her feature-directing debut. The material doesn't serve her well -- and vice versa.

Set in an small town in upstate New York, the film covers several days in the lives of overlapping families: the blue-collar Kimbroughs -- widower dad Easy (a first-rate Bruce Dern), adult sons Dwight a.k.a. "Beagle" (Aaron Stanford) and Guy (Bartok) -- and the seemingly more upscale Kaminskis -- handicapped teenager Georgia ("Twilight's" Kristen Stewart), her mother, Violet (Talia Balsam), and grandma Marg (Elizabeth Ashley, at her flintiest).

Except for a budding if not terribly convincing romance between the hangdog Beagle and the luminously sad Georgia, the rest of the slender story threads involving loyalty, mortality and regret are, frankly, dullsville. Masterson's blessed with a strong cast, but she imbues the movie with so little style or energy that it simply creeps along until its series of low-key conclusions.

As for the curious title, the phrase "cake eaters," though never referenced in the film, is generally defined as "those who never have to go without." Although that hardly seems to apply here, it lends some welcome irony to this overly earnest endeavor.

We went head to head with Kristen Stewart to talk about the upcoming Twilight Movie Sequel! MoviesOnline caught up with our favorite actress, Kristen Stewart, this morning at the Los Angeles press day for her new film, “The Cake Eaters.” Of course, we asked her about the latest on Twilight and the upcoming New Moon which starts shooting later this month. We also gave her the opportunity to set the record straight on the Nylon interview.

Kristen is a fabulous person and we really appreciated her time. Here’s what she had to tell us:

Q: Since the Nylon interview came out, do you feel like you’re playing with fire when you talk about the Twilight fans?

KRISTEN STEWART: No, because I love the Twilight fans. I have literally never said anything remotely negative about them. You have to stay away from certain key words that can be twisted into a negative connotation, like the word ‘psychotic’ apparently is really bad. I don’t understand why. I mean, I feel like it’s a really humble position to take that it’s not normal to find yourself in a situation where there are 5,000 screaming girls and you’re literally like fodder. I feel like that’s not normal and it’s not something I should just say, “Oh yeah, it’s really cool. I love ‘em.” I feel like everything that I said in that Nylon interview, if you actually read the whole thing, was very honest and genuine and talking about something that I am so immersed in and have absolutely no control over and I’m just trying to stay honest and true to something that I care about. Yeah, that’s it.

Q: Well allow me to take you in the proper context. When do you start shooting the next installment of the Twilight saga, New Moon?

KRISTEN STEWART: Very soon. In a couple weeks. March 23rd I think is the first official day of shooting.

Q: Are you excited about the next one? Is there a part of it you’re looking most forward to shooting?

KRISTEN STEWART: Yeah. I mean, it’s interesting. It’s a completely different story. It’s like it entirely undermines the first. Edward is gone and, for me, that was the whole story. It’s hard for me to get past like… I don’t know how Bella is going to deal with that. She matures a lot. It’s a much more painful story than the first one. It’s actually quite devastating. It’s a smaller scale as well. She’s very solitary for quite a while so that will be interesting. I’m excited about that.

Be sure to check back later today for our exciting full interview with Kristen to learn all about her new movie, “The Cake Eaters,” which opens in theaters on March 13th.

The Best 'Twilight' Cast Performances You Haven't Seen
03 Mar 2009

Robert Pattinson in 'How to Be,' Kristen Stewart in 'Cake Eaters' and more make our top five.

You've memorized the books, you'll be in line for the midnight DVD-release party, and you have "Kellan 4-Ever" tattooed across one (or both) buttocks. But are you fully prepared to be a true Twilighter?

First, you need to bask in the versatile skills the franchise's stars will depend on as they film "New Moon" and "Eclipse," practically back-to-back, beginning this month. With that in mind, we've compiled our top-five "Twilight" cast performances you haven't seen:

5. Kristen Stewart in "The Cake Eaters"
In this sweet, tiny little film, KStew steals the show as Georgia Kaminski, a terminally ill teen hoping to find love while grappling with the nerve-system-attacking disease Friedreich's ataxia. The potential pitfalls are obvious, as Stewart slurs her speech, limps around and depends on others to help her maneuver. But the talented actress sheds light on the affliction, giving a performance that is tender, sweet and — most disarmingly — sexy.

Where to See It: The movie opens in limited release March 13.

4. Edi Gathegi on "Life on Mars"
Sadly, this trippy, time-traveling cop drama was recently canceled. Its short life, however, gave us a great cameo by the man Twilighters know as Laurent. Stepping in for a flashback of an older character, Gathegi's performance built to a big payoff — basically, he had to make the audience care for his character as much as the show's star did. In a brief amount of time, the endearing Gathegi brought the goods.

Where to See It: Pray that the episode, titled "Things to Do in New York When You're Dead," gets rerun — or that season one eventually gets a DVD release.

3. Robert Pattinson in "How to Be"
In the months since RPattz's career explosion, this tiny independent film has become a phenomenon. Filmed in early 2007, the flick stars Rob as a young musician seeking wisdom from a self-help guru — and "Twilight" fans have been traveling hundreds of miles for its current cinema tour. "Cinequest we just did; it went really well," producer Justin Kelly said of a recent date at a San Jose film festival. "It's insane; people fly across three states to see it. It's fantastic."

Where to See It: The Independent Film Channel's Festival Direct service will make the film available April 29 on cable providers Bright House, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Insight and Time Warner. "We're supporting IFC's release with the cinema tour," Kelly explained.

2. Billy Burke on "The Closer"
If you're like me, you see "Matlock," "Columbo" and "Monk" and wonder: What's the point of watching if the star always catches the criminal? After years of suffering in silence through my wife's "Closer" obsession, I was recently rewarded by a tour-de-force cameo from Burke. Bella Swan's father broke out as Philip Stroh, a smooth-talking lawyer who might be in cahoots with his murderer/rapist client. By the end of the episode, Burke had shown tremendous range and walked away with a devilish glee — a performance that has haunted Kyra Sedgwick's homicide chief ever since.

Where to See It: The episode, titled "Power of Attorney," can be found on TNT's Web site.

1. Anna Kendrick in "Rocket Science"
Admittedly, it might be the most visible performance out of the five listed here. Still, Twilighters who haven't seen Kendrick's breakout performance in this 2007 indie flick need to put down their copy of Kristen Stewart's unauthorized biography and get to Blockbuster immediately. Cast as fast-talking debate queen Ginny Ryerson, Kendrick is nothing short of a revelation.

Where to See It: On DVD.

The Backlash Begins: Does Kristen Stewart Really Think ‘Twilight’ Is A Bad Movie?
25 Feb 2009

MTV
by Larry Carroll

From George Lucas to Michael Phelps to the Octo-Mom, every famous person has to deal with it at some point: Backlash. But now, as the vitriol begins to boil around Kristen Stewart, we have to wonder: Are the Twilighters being too mean?

The latest brouhaha began brewing when Robert Pattinson showed up to Sunday’s 81st Annual Academy Awards without the “Twilight” leading lady on his arm. As fans know, from the MTV Movie Awards to Comic-Con and various other events throughout 2009, it was extremely rare to see one actor making a publicity appearance without the other nearby. Immediately, rumors began circulation that there was more to KStew’s conspicuous absence than met the eye.

Sure enough, when the 18-year-old’s father John Stewart (no, not that one) showed up on the red carpet, the TV producer was approached by the incomparable Billy Bush. George W.’s cousin asked Kristen’s dad why she wasn’t presenting with RPattz, and his answer was as honest as it was shocking.

He said that Kristen would present at the Oscars, “When it’s a great movie, not just one that makes a lot of money.”

So basically, in addition to revealing the belief of Kristen’s father that “Twilight” is not a great movie, the quote seems to imply that the star agrees with her Dad. Piled on top of this comment is Stewart’s recent interview with “Nylon” magazine in which she referred to the “psychotic situations” and “bullsh—questions” of the “Twilight” promotional tour. Which brings us to the fallout in recent days from the Twilighters.

“Wow!” wrote “popsicle14” in an MTV.com comments section. “She’s the biggest snob in Hollywood.”

“While I can imagine how overwhelming the situation may be, this girl needs to get over herself!” wrote “kris10.” “If it is true she is waiting to be in a ‘good’ movie before she attends the Oscars, she is going to be waiting a looooong time.”

Still, some Twilighters are quick to defend their Bella. “So she swears every now and then…whoopdie do,” a fan named “Ash” said of Stewart’s vernacular. “People don’t have to like her, she isn’t looking for anyone’s approval, as we have seen/heard. She ultimately makes her own decisions. We can’t fault her, cause we DON’T know her…but you should respect her a bit for not being a ‘stereotypical’ young Hollywood actress.”

Twilight's Kristen Stewart: I'm Not Dating Rob Pattinson

By Alina Soler

Kristen Stewart may be completely enamored with her undead boyfriend in Twilight, but the actress insists her intense romance with costar Robert Pattinson is reserved for the big screen.

"Rob and I are good friends. We went through a lot together, so we feel very close," the newly-minted It-girl says of her sexy costar in Nylon magazine's March issue.

Stewart has been dating actor Michael Angarano since 2006, but that hasn't stopped rumors of an off-screen fling with her Twilight costar.

"If we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinized, like the way I stand next to him. And it’s like, I know this guy really [expletive] well," she says. "It's only natural that we're sort of leaning on each other, because we're put in the most … psychotic situations."

Stewart and Pattinson will reprise their roles in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, which begins filming in March and is set to open on November 20, 2009. The third film in the series, Eclipse, will arrive June 30, 2010.

Kristen Stewart clicked with Solomon Trimble

Kristen Stewart might have spent most of her time during the filming of Twilight with Robert Pattinson but she still had time for the other actors on set.

Solomon Trimble (Sam) seemed to really click with Kristen during one conversation.

He told MediaBlvd: "Most of the cast was put in a huge van before my scene shot. We all got to chill while they were waiting for it to stop raining, so we got to talk. She was really cool.

"She was very level-headed and very modest. I sang a few contemporary native songs to make everybody laugh and lighten the mood.

"What I remember most, about talking to Kristen, is when I said "You did a really good job in Into the Wild. You have a good singing voice," and with a surprised look on her face, she said, "You saw that? Thank you!"

Solomon also enjoyed acting alongside Taylor Lautner: "Working with Taylor was great. I looked into all of the others actors before filming, and watched their movies and YouTube videos.

"I didn't watch Shark Boy and Lava Girl, but I watched some of Taylor's martial arts videos, and I was crazy impressed. He is a ninja."

Catherine Hardwicke knew Robert Pattinson was special

She might not be directing New Moon but Catherine Hardwicke must be happy that she got the chance to direct Robert Pattinson before he was an international star.

Before Twilight not many people had heard of Rpattz, but now he is the hottest actor on the planet.

Catherine Hardwicke told VHM during filming: "Actually, I do feel lucky directing Kristen and Rob, because their faces are so beautiful.

"They're expressive. Their skin is just porcelain, and sometimes I am literally watching the monitor and I'm going, "Oh, I'm so excited!" just about jumping up and down. But I don't want to say anything, because I want to keep them in the moment.

"Sometimes I feel like I'm getting gold here. And it is very exciting."

Kristen might not be as accident prone as Bella in real life but she still managed to pull it off.

Kristen added: "I haven't hurt myself on set; I've hurt myself off-set. It's surprisingly difficult to do it on cue. I'm not the most graceful of people, but it's like physical comedy — it's hard to do. Unless you're actually tripping, it just looks fake.

"But I'm doing my best. I'm no Buster Keaton, but I'm trying."

Last month, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart made big news with the announcement that she’d soon be portraying another headstrong, no-nonsense tough girl with a disarming beauty and a wicked attitude: the one and only Joan Jett.

Recently we caught up with KStew at Sundance to get her thoughts on “New Moon” her upcoming film “Adventureland” and the biopic that will soon have her putting another dime in the jukebox, baby.

“I’m, like, vibrating,” grinned Stewart when we asked about “The Runaways,” a 1970’s-era flick about the influential all-girl rock band fronted by Jett and Lita Ford. “I’m just so excited about that movie.”

“I’m really, exceedingly, more excited than normal,” she laughed.

PARK CITY, Utah — One year ago this month, Kristen Stewart was a respected young actress known primarily for playing Jodie Foster's daughter in "Panic Room," floating around Sundance with a William Hurt/ Maria Bello indie called "The Yellow Handkerchief." On Monday, she returned to a decidedly different environment.

"[To me], all of a sudden Sundance has become this very commercial thing — which, it started out to be the opposite of that," she told us just minutes after being rushed around Main Street. "So, it is weird to see massive hordes of paparazzi, and people who aren't talking about the movie that I have here. They're talking about something else."

'Twilight' Kristen Stewart on 'New Moon' director Chris Weitz, Taylor Lautner's muscles

MTV caught up with Kristen Stewart at Sundance and got her take on "New Moon" director Chris Weitz and on Taylor Lautner staying on — and bulking up — as Jacob Black.

Stewart is one of the few actors from the film who has actually met with Weitz, who directed the absymal "The Golden Compass." But she sounds very supportive of her new director.

"Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted," she explained to MTV. "And he's very clearly not doing the movie just because it's the next big thing. He really likes it a lot."

She was also concerned about a change of actor playing Jacob and is relieved that Taylor is staying on.

"I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him! I didn't understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it's set, we can all rest.

Romantic films find love at Sundance
22 Jan 2009

USA Today
By Anthony Breznican

PARK CITY, Utah — At Sundance this year, all you need is love.
Stories about romance are stealing festivalgoers' hearts and, in most cases, breaking them just a little bit.

These hits of the annual low-budget movie showcase aren't sappy, sweetheart stories, but instead look at relationships from skewed perspectives.

Among those picked up by Hollywood distributors are An Education, about a teenage girl in 1960s London trying to decide whether the much-older man she's dating is her true love; and Adam, the tale of a socially awkward young man who develops an offbeat relationship with the woman next door.

Two other love stories already with studio backing premiered at Sundance and built must-see buzz in advance of their nationwide debuts.

Miramax showcased the coming-of-age comedy Adventureland, about a teenager trying to win the heart of a disaffected young girl (Twilight's Kristen Stewart) while working at a rundown amusement park in 1987. It was written and directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad) and opens March 27.

"It all started because I wanted to write a movie about first love, that first relationship that isn't just infatuation or childish petting," Mottola says. "It's about knowing that what you love about someone is more important than any problems they might have."

PARK CITY, UTAH (Reuters) - Vampire romance "Twilight" hurtled Kristen Stewart to the kind of fame that can turn a life into a roller coaster ride, so it seems appropriate that her new movie revolves around an amusement park.

"Adventureland," which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of a string of quirky movies Stewart, 18, has starred-in since her first film at age 11.

But none of those movies ever brought the actress the sort of attention she has received the last two months since "Twilight" struck gold at box offices with more than $324 million worldwide since its November debut.

What a difference a year makes.

Last year Kristen Stewart came to Sundance as just another actor. She was here for the small film “The Yellow Handkerchief,” which has yet to have a wide release, as is the case for many films shown here. It’s actually part of the charm.

Then she started working on her next project (maybe you’ve heard of it?), which catapulted her into super-stardom with young girls everywhere. This year, here to debut “Adventureland,” a film in which she co-stars with Jesse Eisenberg, the experience is a bit different for the young actress. When we caught up with Kristen yesterday, the “Twilight” star specifically described the difference in the level of paparazzi she’s noticed here on this go round.

Kristen goes on to talk more about the Sundance experience, and what she thinks about all the actors and celebrities who are here for — or not for — festival films. Check out the video after the jump.

"We drove over here quickly hoping to catch the moment and then we just heard everybody screaming outside and were like, 'Oh, that's cool.' With YouTube it doesn't really matter, but while it happens, it's such a different momentum," Stewart says. "And then we had to go talk about our movie."

"Yeah, we had to go talk about shooting in short sleeves," Eisenberg dryly jokes.

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Interview: Twilight's Bella and Edward speak

IGN UK
by Leigh Singer

Vampire flick Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as a pair of star-crossed teens, and IGN recently caught up with them to discuss the hit film's romantic chemistry, sexual tension - and dealing with crazy screaming fans.

IGN: Did you have any idea just how devoted the book's fans are?

Kristen Stewart: I knew how important the book was to a small group of people but I had no idea how widespread it was. I felt I was one of them, initially - then I realised I wasn't as crazy as most of them.

IGN: Were you prepared for the hysteria at the premieres?

Robert Pattinson: I don't think anything can prepare you for that. I don't know why I'm not getting used to it because it's happened absolutely everywhere we've been with Twilight, people screaming. 'Screaming' and 'Twilight' seem to belong in the same sentence. I'm completely overwhelmed with it.

KRISTEN STEWART (Bella Swan) was introduced to worldwide audiences with her outstanding performance alongside Jodie Foster in Panic Room. Stewart was most recently seen in supporting roles in the dramas Into the Wild for director Sean Penn and as Robert de Niro’s daughter in What Just Happened? for director Barry Levinson.

She will next be seen in Adventureland, starring opposite Ryan Reynolds and Jesse Eisenberg for director Greg Mottola. Stewart plays starring roles in the forthcoming independent films The Cake Eaters, for director Mary Stuart Masterson, and Yellow Handkerchief, with William Hurt and Maria Bello. Other film credits include: In the Land of Women, The Messengers, Zathura, Speak, Fierce People, Catch That Kid, Undertow, Cold Creek Manor and The Safety of Objects.

What attracted you to the role of Bella?

My favourite thing about Bella is that she is supposed to fill this role of the damsel in distress, but in an odd way she sort of holds the power in the relationship. She is very sure of herself and is not afraid of the situation which is so much bigger than her. Bella and Edward have like a funny dynamic. He’s a vampire and he would suck the last bit of blood out of her, yet she’s completely fascinated by him.

Kristen Stewart, star of vampire romancer Twilight, made an appearance in our New Regime lineup. Here's a full Q&A with the preciously precocious young lady, where she talks about being Bella, living life as a working actress, and the authority issues that lead her to read Camus, Steinbeck, and Bukowski on her own.

You got your start as a child. Did you always see yourself acting into adulthood?
It was never a preconceived thing. It was always arbitrary, I think. Subsequently, I became very passionate about acting. Now, there is no reason for me to stop doing this.

What impact did working with Sean Penn on Into the Wild have on you?
It definitely opened my eyes to a different creative process. His direction is very specific, but still, he lets things happen. He just wants you to go for it. Once he picks his characters, he gives you that confidence. Plus, I really enjoyed working with Emile [Hirsch]. He’s such a good friend of mine. That was like a little section of my life. It was very fruitful.

LONDON (Reuters) - The surprise success of "Twilight," the teen vampire movie that boasted a bigger opening North American weekend box office than the new James Bond, could make the sequel harder to sell, its leading actors said.

The movie, based on the bestselling novel by U.S. author Stephenie Meyer, made $69.6 million in movie theatres over its first weekend last month, ahead of Bond film "Quantum of Solace" which cost over five times as much to make.

The success helped convince independent studio Summit Entertainment to go ahead with sequel "New Moon" based on the second book in the series, and the two lead actors from Twilight are down to reprise their roles.

IT'S less than a cult but more than just a fan base. They gathered in wet, wintry Oregon almost 12 months ago to steal glimpses of the film that would put what they had imagined on the big screen. The film of the book is Twilight, now a four-part, international best-seller about the adventures of Isabella Swan and her pale but interesting friends, the Cullens, and specifically, Edward Cullen, the eternally teenaged dreamboat with a sculpted hairdo. The interest of those observers was less curious than proprietorial.

The story begins when the smart and reserved Bella, the new kid in a small, perpetually rainy and isolated town in Washington, is attracted immediately to Edward, a supernaturally handsome young man who is, in fact, a vampire.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Thanks to "Twilight," Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson are bona fide stars. They cause riots at malls, they need security guards, and Pattinson even gets asked to suck necks.

And now, with the movie making more than $138 million (93 million pounds) in 17 days, they are entering a new phase of their careers. The two actors find themselves in an enviable position as the leads in a gold-plated franchise, and the offers began coming in almost a month before the movie opened.

Both already have their next movies in the can: Stewart stars with Jesse Eisenberg and Ryan Reynolds in "Adventureland," Gregg Mottola's follow-up to "Superbad," which is due March 27. Pattinson is playing surrealist artist Salvador Dali in Paul Morrison's "Little Ashes."

The big question is where they go from there.

Method acting?

Vampire-playing Robert Pattinson admits he sometimes slips into character when he's out with the ladies.

"I've been known for a little nibble," he told reporters at the London premiere of Twilight.

The movie, based on the bestselling novel by Stephenie Meyer, has become an instant hit with tween audiences. Thousands of screaming girls lined the black carpet Wednesday night for a chance to see Pattinson in the (undead) flesh.

Despite adoring fans, the single Pattinson, 22, tells PEOPLE he's not actively looking for a girlfriend. "I'm not like prowling around, no!" he laughs.

However his admirers' pickup lines have changed following Twilight's success. "Now it's very different," he said, continuing in a high-pitched falsetto, "It's, 'Oh I'm such a big fan!' "

One woman who's definitely in Pattinson's fan club? Costar Kristen Stewart.

But the 18-year-old actress did jokingly recall one action scene that sidelined the strapping star.

"He tried to pick me up ... and he pulled his groin," she said. "It was hilarious! He was hurt but he was laughing."

'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart cast as Joan Jett: Good move?

by Amy Wilkinson

Hot on the heels of Twilight's box office killing, Kristen Stewart has been cast as rocker Joan Jett in 2009's The Runaways, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The biopic focuses on Jett's all-girl band of the same name, which rocked its way to moderate success Stateside and even greater stardom abroad in the late '70s. This is the second "edgy" role Stewart has taken on since starring in the vampire flick. Perhaps not wanting to be typecast as gawky teen Bella Swan, Stewart will play a stripper in the upcoming Welcome to the Rileys. She talked with EW earlier this year about frequenting a strip club in New Orleans to prepare for the role. ''I danced on the bar there three nights this week, and my legs are covered in bruises,'' Stewart said. ''Hopefully, the Twilight fans won't totally freak out.''

Well, Twilight fans, are you freaking out? Do you have any qualms about Stewart playing the guitar goddess -- or a pole dancer for that matter? Or are you happy to see her branching out into new, challenging roles? And for you Joan Jett fans, is Kristen badass enough to embody the role?

Teenage fans braved the cold to catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson at the premiere of his new fanstasy film Twilight.

The 22-year-old English actor plays vampire Edward Cullen in the film, which has been touted as the "girl's answer to Harry Potter".

He was joined on the red carpet by co-star Kristen Stewart, who plays his teenage love interest Isabella Swan. Stewart, 18, arrived at the West End Vue Cinema in London's Leicester Square wearing a single-strap blue dress, apparently unconcerned about the bitter temperatures.

Twilight is based on the series of books by Mormon housewife-turned-author Stephanie Meyer which have sold around 14 million copies across the world.

New Moon gets going in March

Twilight is still going gangbusters at the US box office, with a hair under $120 million two weeks in, and so, inevitably, the sequel gets ever closer. Star Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella in the series, told Ryan Seacrest's US radio show yesterday that shooting on the sequel, New Moon, is due to start in March.

The books, by Stephenie Meyer, number four, and the next two have already been greenlit and are in the process of being adapted. Both Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson, who plays her vampire boyfriend Edward, are signed up for the sequels.

In her interview Stewart also pointed to one of the advantages of the film's big box office success: the fact that they can justify the expense of shooting those sections set in Italy on location. "I think we're going to get to go to Italy, which is so cool," said Stewart. "For a while there, they were like, Oh, we don't know if we have the money, but now I think we may have the money!"

The sequel sees Edward leaving Bella, for her own protection, only for her to go a bit doo-lally and start engaging in death-defying activities in order to feel connected to him again. On the bright side, however, she does become closer friends with Jacob, a young Quileute Indian who clearly has a crush on her - but also has some secrets. And there's a bit in Italy at the end, but that's spoilerific so you'll have to read the book to learn more about that.

The Twilight saga keeps going and going and....

On Tuesday, the film's star Kristen Stewart called in to Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in L.A. and talked about how excited she is to make the sequel to Twilight.

Kristen also revealed some exciting details about the just announced sequel, New Moon, (based on Stephenie Meyer's book by the same name) saying production will most likely start "in March."

When folks like "South Park" and "The Soup" — and even Kathie Lee Gifford — are all talking about your movie, you know you've become a pop-culture phenomenon. And, oh yeah, $70 million doesn't hurt either.

Even the haters wouldn't dare debate the notion that a bright, shining spotlight is now focused on the young stars of "Twilight." The question is: Where do they go from here? On Tuesday (November 25), we took a peek into the immediate future of Robert Pattinson. Looking at his co-stars' calendars, we find a similarly intriguing mix — this time filled with pet projects, 3-D slasher flicks and gender-bending dramas.

Actress also reveals insecurities with film’s dialogue and what inspired her

HOLLYWOOD, CA (RushPRnews) 11/22/08 – “It’s hard to say these lines that are so fundamentally expressive [in] the simplest form,” “Twilight” actress Kristen Stewart told Hollywood Today. “‘I would die for you.’ Imagine saying that to someone. Imagine reading those lines.”

Stewart may send fans of the Stephenie Meyer book series into a frenzy when she cuddles with Robert Pattinson onscreen or realizes in a hushed tone that his character is among the undead, but the 18-year-old often needed convincing her character was believable while making the film adaptation that hit theaters early this morning.

Express Night Out

MILLIONS WILL RUSH to theaters come midnight Friday, sporting "Mrs. Cullen" T-shirts, fake fangs, and with tickets in hand.

"Twilight" is the first in Stephenie Meyer's four-part book series about forbidden love between small-town girl Bella Swan and sexy vampire Edward Cullen. It's also, now, a film, which has generated a fan base so fervid -- and with such high expectations -- that the studio is hedging its bets by sending out the film's stars to enchant the story's acolytes.

Last Thursday, Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed, who play Bella and the vampire Rosalie, respectively, seemed ready to face the frenzy of 500 fans at Fairfax's Fair Oaks Shopping Center. (Stewart's co-star, Robert Pattinson, who plays the dreamy Cullen, stopped at a California Hot Topic last week; the subsequent mayhem left four people with minor injuries.)

Already, the two have had their personal share of overexcited fans.

SheKnows
by Joel D Amos

As Twilight fever grips the world, SheKnows was front and center with the film’s stars that play the iconic characters Edward and Bella in Stephenie Meyer’s now-legendary vampire saga.

Robert Pattinson first came to audiences’ awareness for his portrayal of the doomed Hogwarts student Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter series. His role in that film caught the eye of Twilight casting directors. But, without being cut out of Reese Witherspoon’s Vanity Fair, Pattinson would not have had the chance.

“Yeah, they didn’t tell me I was cut from the movie,” Pattinson says of his Vanity Fair experience. He arrived for the premiere, watched the film -- and as the credits rolled, Pattinson realized he never was in the movie.

“The casting director came over to me at the premiere party and felt so badly, she offered me the part in Harry Potter,” Pattinson says.

The rest is history.

LOS ANGELES — Let this be a warning to all teen girls: Vampire love can make you go deaf. Or lose your voice.
At Monday night's world premiere of the movie Twilight, hundreds of fans, the vast majority teen girls, roared, cheered and swooned as stars of the film, opening Friday, made their way down the red carpet at the Mann Village and Bruin Theaters in Westwood.

The most deafening cheers burst forth for star Robert Pattinson, the British actor previously known as poor, doomed Cedric in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The actor plays brooding "good-guy" vampire Edward Cullen in the film, based on a best-selling books series, and has become the heartthrob of the moment.

"Oh yeah, they flip over him," said Kristen Stewart, who plays Edward's mortal love, Bella. "All he has to do is run his hands through his hair."

Exclusive Interview: Twilight's Kristen Stewart

Shock Til You Drop

When this writer walks into a Beverly Hills hotel room to meet Kristen Stewart, we notice she doesn't have that forced effervescence other actresses of her age (that'd be 18, fellas) project - the "look at me" attitude that can become irritating in less than a minute. Instead, she's earnest. Fidgety. Uncomfortable in her skin or at least still trying to figure out how to wear it out in public.

I witnessed the same qualities when she was in the hot seat and doing interviews for the sluggish horror film The Messengers in early 2007. Back then, they seemed like jitters of a young woman shouldered by uncertainty. When I wrapped that interview, I thanked and commended her on giving me some solid material to work with. "Yeah?" I recall her asking, brow furrowed in genuine concern followed by a sigh of relief. Today, Stewart's demeanor begs for re-interpretation. She's confident. Wiser. The uneasiness comes with the bite of a lip or, again, the furrow of her brow as she lingers in mid-thought to find the right things to say because she knows, when it comes to Twilight, every word counts to the legions of disciples who follow Stephenie Meyer's novels.

Kristen Stewart is in an enviable position, both in terms of the exposure Twilight is already providing and in how her turn as Bella should play to the series' rabid fans. When it comes to pleasing the latter, she is saddled with impossibly high expectations. And while no one can please everyone, the young actress' reserved, strong performance in the movie should go a long way towards claiming the popular vote.

At 18, Stewart is both mature for her age and, well, a typical 18-year-old girl. She's well-spoken and contemplative; she's also fidgety and clearly still acclimating herself to the newfound round-the-clock focus on her every move. Such a life transformation would be difficult for anyone, but Stewart is managing the situation well, as she demonstrated at a recent press conference. She can look forward to a bright future -- more Twilight films and other project offers.

Hit or miss, 'Twilight' is actress Kristen Stewart's big break

By John Anderson

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - The love-after-death movie “Twilight” is going to be so huge it would take a stake through the heart to stop it. And the reasons seem so obvious they make you say, “D’oh!”: A heavily computer-generated, blood-flecked, teenage soap opera set in the hormonal chaos of high school. A ready-made fan base of rabid Gothic/chick-lit readers cultivated by Stephenie Meyer’s four-book series. And a not-so-secret weapon named Kristen Stewart.

The actress, who is just old enough to have voted in the recent election, is no newcomer. “If that were the case,” she says, “I’d be tripping.” No, her filmography began when she was 11 (in “The Safety of Objects"), and her roles include playing Jodie Foster’s daughter in “Panic Room” (2002), making a big splash in the adventure “Catch That Kid” (2004) and being the best thing in several movies (including last year’s “The Messengers").

Move over, Harry Potter. Twilight is Stephenie Meyer's publishing sensation with a forbidden vampire romance.

Could a vampire movie -- with two relative unknowns starring as a hunky bloodsucker and a gawky teenager -- become the biggest blockbuster of the season?

We'll find out on Nov. 21, when "Twilight," the latest mega-selling novel-to-film franchise, opens in theaters.

Anticipation among the books' legions of young fans already has turned the series' author, Stephenie Meyer, into publishing's newest literary superstar.

What, you ask, is the appeal of her dark vampire tales? "We love to be scared," says Meyer, whose books have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. "But most of the monsters that you see are disgusting. They are usually oozing something. Vampires are the only ones who are dangerous and scary, and, at the same time, they're hot."

Ah, teen love. What is it without angst? What 13-year-old girl would not stand outside in the frigid cold at 4 a.m. for the chance to bask in the personal glow of her passion? What true believer would blanch at being pressed against a police barricade, as the crowd behind her surges forward in hope of capturing the perfect cellphone shots of the one they adore?

"Twilight" has descended on Fair Oaks Mall, a stop on the film tour for the book series of the same name. Written by Stephenie Meyer, it is the tale of the incremental, complicated romance between the loner Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and the vampire boy Edward. It's fantasy love by inches, and it seems that every girl in a black T-shirt and Converse All-Stars or ballet flats can relate.

"I just met Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed!" gasps Nicole Harman, a Fairfax 11-year-old, trying to explain why her face is apoplectically pink and why she's fanning herself with her right hand, as if breath might stop at any moment. "Oh my God. I can't stand up right now. Oh my God."

Kristen Stewart loved kissing Robert Pattinson in their new movie 'Twilight'

Kristen Stewart loved kissing Robert Pattinson in her new movie.

The pair play Bella and Edward in vampire movie 'Twilight' and the actress admits her favourite thing about the role was locking lips with her British co-star.

She said: "It's not that easy to be Bella, that's the thing. It's really fun to examine the characters from an outside perspective, but to play the parts, they're very wrought. She's found something she feels she can't live without, and that's very scary.

"As for reasons why it's good to play her, well, I get to kiss Edward Cullen."

The 'Zathura' star also admitted she would have been jealous had her role been given to another actress.

She added to MTV: "I totally would. If I were completely unaware of the project, I don't know if I would have picked up the book. I read, but I'm so boring. I read classic literature, and I go to used bookstores. I would have to see the movie, and who can know how the movie would've turned out with someone else?

"But I was driven very strongly by something in the story to do it. I can only do a film if I feel entirely compelled by it."

'Twilight' is released in cinemas later this month.

It’s only one day until our exciting Twilight issue of USA WEEKEND, and we have something very special for our readers: an exclusive chat with two of the movie’s stars, Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed. Our Brian Truitt caught up with the two friends at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C., this morning, just a few hours before Stewart was headed down to Northern Virginia to sign autographs at a Hot Topic store in Fairfax. The Twilight Tour has been utter insanity so far: In San Francisco, so many fans showed up to get a chance to meet Stewart’s on-screen paramour, Robert Pattinson — who plays the vampiric suitor Edward in the movie — that there was a near-riot. And at 3 a.m. this morning, 2,000 fans were at Fairfax’s Fair Oaks Mall trying to be one of the lucky 500 to get a wristband and opportunity to meet Stewart. Ah, the wonders of being involved in a project beloved by bajillions of teenage girls. Click read more below for the first part of Brian’s interview with the actresses (stay tuned for part two tomorrow) and remember to check here to find out where you can find your Twilight issue of USA WEEKEND starting tomorrow!

Kristen Stewart is passionate about ‘Twilight’

Access Hollywood

‘Bella is sort of easy for every girl to relate to,’ says the actress

With her dark hair and fine features, Kristen Stewart would make a great vampire — but in “Twilight,” she only dates one. Stewart plays Bella, the human Juliet to Edward’s vampire Romeo, in the teen romance, and the way she bites into the role has helped make her AccessHollywood.com’s latest Rising Star.

The L.A.-bred 18-year-old actress got her start alongside Jodie Foster in 2002’s “Panic Room” — an auspicious beginning for a child star who has worked consistently since. But no role has been as big as “Twilight,” a sensation that has made her a star among readers of Stephenie Meyer’s novels well in advance of the film’s release on Nov. 21.

“It’s a very passionate book so it makes sense that the audience would be as hardcore,” Stewart said. “They’re already going crazy over the hot vampires.”

Actress says she would date Eric if she went to Forks High: 'I like nerds.'

BEVERLY HILLS, California — With only a handful of "Twilight" Tuesdays remaining, it's time to pay tribute to the woman who started it all: Kristen Stewart.

Much like Britney Spears, she began "Twilight" at the beginning of this year as not a girl, not yet a woman. Although she had the best pedigree of any of her co-stars ("Panic Room," "Zathura," "The Messengers") and was already regarded as a fast-rising Hollywood star, Stewart was still young enough to require a shortened schedule and on-set educator. After celebrating her 18th birthday with the Cullen clan by her side, such restrictions were lifted, and now Kristen is ready for her November 21 graduation to full-fledged leading-lady status.

While Robert Pattinson has been the focus of the media frenzy surrounding "Twilight," it's Kristen Stewart, the actress playing 17-year-old Bella, who truly is carrying the film. Bella not only narrates the love story, she also awakens Edward out of his 107-year stupor.

In our one-on-one interview with the actress, she talks about her first impressions of Stephenie Meyer's teen love story, answers for calling some of movie's dialogue corny, and talks about whether she's game to do the sequels.

As the movie’s premiere nears, are you starting to feel pressure from the fans? Are you nervous about what they'll think of your take on Bella?

I’m just as passionate about the book as the fans are, so it’s sort of weird to be addressed like, "Don’t mess this up for us!" Like, wow, I don’t want to mess it up for myself either.

Initial Twilight Fan Reaction Not so Warm for Pattinson, Stewart, and Gathegi

Reelz Channel

Now that the Twilight faithful have gotten the chance to see the cast in posters, trailers and still images, the overall reaction to the casting choices is positive. But this was far from the case at the get-go.

Message boards, fan sites and blogs were awash with venom when the largely unknown cast was first announced for the adaptation of book one of Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular Twilight series. As any regular internet surfer has surely observed, the more rabid the fan base, the more outright cruel the comments tend to get.

Speaking to the cast of Twilight this weekend, the group has managed to emerge unscathed, winning over the fans bit by bit in the months leading up to the November 21st release. But each has had their fare share of mixed emotions about first being introduced to the fan base.

If the Stephenie Meyer vampire movie explodes, so will the young actress's career; is she ready for fame? A candid chat with the girl who will be Bella, Edward's mortal beloved

She begins with a disclaimer. ''I usually don't look like such a skank,'' Kristen Stewart says, fanning out 10 dirt-caked fingernails. Fresh off her star turn as innocent, lovestruck Bella Swan in Twilight, the 18-year-old actress — best known as the hippie chick in Sean Penn's Into the Wild — is researching a very different movie role at the moment, that of a young stripper. She's been spending time at a run-down strip club in New Orleans' French Quarter called Dixie Divas, taking in the show and learning how to gyrate around a pole, though she doesn't shed many layers. ''I danced on the bar there three nights this week, and my legs are covered in bruises,'' Stewart says proudly. ''Hopefully, the Twilight fans won't totally freak out.''

Kristen Stewart, 18, plays Bella Swan, the clumsy new student at Forks High School who falls in love with the vampire Edward Cullen. Stewart’s past film credits include Panic Room, Into the Wild, and In the Land of Women.

VF Daily: Had you read the Twilight books before getting the script?

No, I hadn't. I didn't read the books until I got the part. I was working on another movie at the time and I only had time to read the script. I didn't really want to focus on anything else, but everyone was saying the project was such a big deal that I had to read the books.

What was your initial impression of the project?

I thought it was really ambitious, this portrayal of the ultimate, most epic love story that could be. Also, Bella is not a typical female lead. The power balance between her and Edward is really skewed. Edward is this confident, perfect, idealistic man, although deep down he's actually really afraid. Bella is naïve but also sure-footed. Whatever it is inside of her that drives her is stronger than she is. She just trusts the shit out of herself.

Stewart Reluctant To Read Twilight

Kristen Stewart, who stars as Bella Swan in the upcoming film version of Stephenie Meyer's novel Twilight, told SCI FI Wire that she hadn't read the book before she became associated with the film and revealed that she's still not cracked open the sequel, New Moon, even with production of the big-screen version on the horizon.

"I don't want the really hardcore fan base to think I'm the Twilight antichrist, but I was so bogged down by having to live the book for so long that I couldn't move on from there," Stewart (The Messengers) said in an interview. "To live something like that for months on end is kind of a heavy thing. So I have not moved on, but I will, because we're going to start preproduction fairly soon, within the next couple of months, on the next one. So I'll start on it."

Actually, there are now four books in the Twilight, including Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. The quartet of novels follows the unlikely teen lovers Bella, a human, and Edward, a 108-year-old vampire (played by Robert Pattinson in the film). Stewart explained that reading all of them would have been a case of information overload.

"I couldn't wrap my head around all four huge stories at once," the actress said. "It was too informative. [Bella] wasn't supposed to know those things, so I didn't want to know them." Twilight opens Nov. 21.

"Twilight" fans know that Bella has little to no interest in fashion. (Good thing she's got Alice, right?) It's understandable. Forks, Was., is supposed to be overcast year-round -- perfect weather for vampires who want to avoid accidentally "dazzling" their human neighbors -- and Bella's usual wardrobe nearly always includes a jacket of some sort.

Star Kristen Stewart, however, has been working Hollywood red carpets for quite some time.

A professional actress since she was 11, Stewart was glamming it up for movie premieres and industry events long before she reached junior high. But would Alice approve of all of Stewart's styles throughout the years? Weigh-in for yourself:

Or what it's like to be in a vampire movie when you're not a vampire

In case you haven’t heard, TWILIGHT is set to be released Nov. 21, 2008, oh but the buzz has been around for a while already. Tons of fansites have been created. The movie trailer was one of the most viewed in iFmagazine’s history. Fans are waiting in eager anticipation for the big screen rendition of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire saga. But at the swirling center of all the media madness and hype is little Kristen Stewart, the young actress chosen to portray Bella Swan. Remember her alongside Jodi Foster in PANIC ROOM? Well she’s grown up now and ready to tackle the juicy role of trying to avoid being vampire bait. She’s also ready to tackle some serious teen issues like divorced parents, isolation, and love.

TWILIGHT tells the story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), two teens that fall in love. Bella is the new girl in town and attracts lots of attention from all the boys. As fate would have it, she meets and falls in love with Edward. But like star-crossed lovers of yore, they have plenty of obstacles to overcome, the most obvious being that Edward is a vampire. He must resist his temptation to kill Bella while defending her from other vampires who seemingly have no qualms about making her their dinner.

Make-up artist Van Phue had to submit preliminary artwork for Twilight. “I had worked with the director before, but she wanted sketches,” said Van Phue, who collaborated with make-up artist and restoration painter Kathy Shorkey on these. “She described what she wanted and I met her with my vision.”

Director Catherine Hardwicke wanted the characters as close to the descriptions of author Stephenie Meyer as possible. This meant Kristen Stewart had to wear brown contact lenses every day to achieve “large chocolate brown eyes,” explained Van Phue.

The biggest challenge on the set was the rain. “We were outside all the time, and it rained the entire time we were there,” Van Phue said. “Most of the shots were exterior, and trying to fix make-up in the rain with wet face and wet brush was difficult.” The experience made her a convert to SK-II airbrush make-up. “It goes on flawlessly—no smudges or streaks,” she said. “And I accidentally found out it was waterproof.”

Though the supernatural figures prominently in the movie "Twilight," Kristen Stewart secured the starring role of Bella Swan in a completely ordinary way. "I participated in a conventional audition process," says the actress, who got her break playing Jodie Foster's daughter in "Panic Room."
"Twilight" is a far cry from anything that's come before for Stewart, whose resume boasts roles in films by directors as diverse as Mike Figgis, David Gordon Green, Jon Favreau and Sean Penn.

The first to be filmed in the bestselling series of teen fantasy novels by Stephenie Meyer, "Twilight" centers on a romance between Bella and forever-17 vampire Edward Cullen. Thousands of teen girls would kill to be in her shoes.

New names, familiar ones top poll of 25 young stars

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - They range from big stars like Daniel Radcliffe and Miley Cyrus to relative unknowns such as Gemma Arterton of new James Bond flick "Quantum of Solace," but one thing they have in common is being young and hot in Hollywood, according to an online poll released on Wednesday.

AOL's Moviefone.com offered its list of top 25 stars under age 25, and among popular celebrities including Oscar-nominated Keira Knightley, 23, and young Dakota Fanning, 14, there were up-and-comers such as Christopher Mintz-Plasse, 19, a.k.a. McLovin of last year's movie comedy sensation, "Superbad."

"There are several returning people, but what's really exciting is there's this whole new crop coming up," said Moviefone editor-in-chief Scott Robson.

"We look at what they've done in the past, but we're mostly concerned with what they have coming over the course of the next year and where it positions them," he added.

Michael Cera, 20, for instance had two break-out movie hits last year with "Superbad" and Oscar-nominated teen pregnancy comedy "Juno," and he'll follow that up this year with October's "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist," in which for the first time he is the star expected to lure fans to theaters.

Arterton, 22, is a bit different. Plucked from the ranks of British television actresses to be the new "Bond Girl" in Quantum of Solace, she also stars in director Guy Ritchie's new flick, "RocknRolla."

Other newcomers include Robert Pattison, 22, who had appeared in small roles in two previous "Harry Potter" films, but has a major part in upcoming vampire flick "Twilight," as well as his co-star in that movie, Kristen Stewart, 18.

"Transformers" stars Shia LaBeouf, 22, and Megan Fox, 22, also made the list, as did Ellen Page, 21, of "Juno" fame, Zac Efron, 20, from "High School Musical," Emma Watson, 18, of the "Harry Potter" movies and "Gossip Girl's" Blake Lively, 21.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Warm during the day, chilly at night, with an inviting moon and huge Douglas fir trees that wrap around you like a hug, the Beaver State is a beautiful place for a couple to visit in April — particularly if you're a head-over-heels high school student and a bloodthirsty, impossibly sexy, 100-year-old vampire.
